Sandra Zupan-Crest
Theatrical Hair Stylist
(1929-2023)

Sandra Zupan-Crest, a talented theatrical hair stylist, passed away on October 22, 2023, at the age of 94. Her journey in the entertainment industry was as unique as it was captivating.

Sandra first entered the limelight as a stand-in for Pat Klous on the television series "Flying High." Despite standing nearly six inches shorter than the actor, her suitability for the role was undeniable. The production team crafted 6-inch custom wood cork shoes for Sandra to wear on set. She took these unique shoes beyond the studio, venturing into daily life to experience the world from a taller perspective.

Sandra's career eventually led her into the enchanting world of live theater, where she worked as a dedicated dresser until her retirement. Throughout her illustrious career, Sandra worked at many prestigious theaters, including the Pantages, the Ahmanson, and the Shubert Theater, where her artistic contributions shone brightly.

According to her beloved daughter, Christi, Sandra loved the musical "Beauty and the Beast." In this cherished production, she dressed the character of Mrs. Potts and developed a deep connection with the actor. This made the job even more special. Sandra's unwavering dedication to her work was exemplified by her tireless efforts, to the point where she would occasionally fall asleep while standing up!

Sandra is survived by her three adoring daughters and two cherished grandchildren, all of whom will forever treasure the memory of her infectious smile, the twinkle in her eye, and her sharp wit that remained with her until the very end.
