Ruby Mae Ford

Ruby joined Local 706 in December of 1969. She started her career as a Hairstylist at CBS Television City. She applied for her Live T.V. hairstylist examination in 1969 and passed with flying colors, and than the subsequent Group I Hairstylist test in 1974, to become a Journeyman member on the Industry Experience Roster. She then proceeded to work on many sitcoms throughout her career. "Sonny & Cher Show", "Family Matters", "Unfaithfully Yours", "The Beverly HillBillies", "Malcom and Eddie" "The Wayans Brothers" , and the films "Demolition Man" and "Bulworth".

In November of 2003, Ruby was honored to be recognized as one of the Award of Excellence Honorees included in the Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center at their 10th Annual African American Film Marketplace held at Raleigh Studios. Many of her peers were also honored.

In 2013, Ruby took an Honorable Withdrawal, as she was no longer actively working in the industry. She is survived by her son Novarro A. Ford Jr, and her daughter Lenora A. Ford. She was a talented and gifted hairstylist and loved to laugh and giggle. Her braiding skills were renowned. Those that worked with her will miss her laugh and her love of hairstyling.
