Monica Helpman, Journeyman Hair Stylist (1933-2016)

Monica immigrated to California in approximately 1960 from London, England, where she had been a hair stylist in film and television.  She began working at NBC and became a member of the Make-up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild in 1982.  She achieved Journeyman status in 1987 and spent many years working primarily in episodic television series ranging from Dynasty, Moonlighting, Dallas, L.A. Law,  Knots Landing, E.R., The Practice, and several seasons on Judging Amy and 24.  She was nominated (along with Gerald Solomon and Cheri) for an Emmy in 1998 for the beautiful hair styling on Dynasty, and again nominated for a 2002 Hollywood Make-up Artists and Hair Stylist Guild Award for The Big Time (along with Marsha Lewis and Maggie Hayes Jackson).  

Sister Helpman received her Gold Card in 2007, and kept working until her retirement in 2015.  She is survived by two daughters, Kim Pagano and Melinda Duronslet.  Local 706 hair stylist Jeanie Duronslet is her grand-daughter.  Local 706 has not been notified of any services, but will notify the membership
