Michael Mosher
Journeyman Makeup Artist
(11/20/1965 - 09/2022)
Born in Connecticut and raised on a farm, Michael Mosher received his first make-up kit as a Christmas gift. He studied directing, design and puppetry and the University of Connecticut then moved to California to realize his dreams. He worked for several years as a Pink Contract member of Local 706 at the San Diego Opera, the Old Globe Theater, San Francisco Opera and La Jolla Playhouse. His vast skills and talents were fine tuned, then he moved to Los Angeles to begin his career in film and television. Along the way he became a magician utilizing skills that improved his abilities as a special make-up effects artist. It also made him a lot of fun to work with, as remembered by his co-workers. The majority of his more than 90 credits highlight his abilities as a special make-up effects artist and wig maker. He did dozens of tv series and tv movies and was nominated for Best Hair & Makeup at the Speed Film Awards for The Teacher Among Us. Other noted credits include Titanic, Cowboys & Aliens, Snake and Mongoose, The Originals and Legacies. Mosher eventually moved from California to Georgia where he continued his expansive career as a make-up artist. His adventure as a make-up department head took him to India on The Return of the Thief of Baghdad. The experience was so exciting that it was published as a three-part article in "First Hold" Magazine. Mike was generous with his talents and taught bald cap classes and made tattoo transfers. Sadly, it was reported that Michael Mosher succumbed to a heart attack in September. Local 706 has not been officially notified of services, but his Facebook page says final arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
