LYNNE BROOKS
Journeyman Make-up Artist
(1928 – 2018)
By the time Lynne Brooks applied for membership in IATSE Local 706, she already had 11 years of make-up artistry in feature film experience in Texas. In 1975 she was in the first wave of women to join as make-up artists and she was truly a workhorse with the capability to accomplish any task set before her. A genuinely sweet and funny person, Lynne was a joyous addition to every crew and she always made sure to make the new make-up artist welcome and shared her knowledge and trailblazing secrets. She took no insolence from anyone and would not tolerate any kind of degradation. Quietly and gently, she stood very, very strong. She was very much a fixture at Universal Studios during the late 1970s and 80s. She worked on both features and television series – Animal House, Alien Nation, Knots Landing, Homefront and numerous movies-of-the-week.
Lynne retired in 1993 and moved to Florida. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Gilbert. There are no services.
