Jennifer Lucy Cabezas
Makeup Artist
(1983-2024)
On February 15, 2024 we lost our sister Jennifer Lucy Cabezas, a talented and extremely loved member of Local 706.
"Cabezas" as she was lovingly referred to by friends and colleagues, was born and raised in East LA. She was a family oriented person with a deep faith in God. She made friends easily and quickly created lifelong friendships.
Jen had a second family with her fellow colleagues at the Greek Theatre, where she worked for years, watching the biggest names in music perform live. It was while working there that she decided she wanted to follow through with her dream of becoming a makeup artist. She attended a local beauty school to learn as much as she could about makeup application, but knew she needed more. In 2009, she enrolled in Cinema Makeup School, learning under the beard and beauty master himself, Leonard Engelman. It was there that Jen met the first artists who would quickly become her makeup family.
Like so many of us, Jen worked for years as a non union artist, collecting days in order to join Local 706. Through the years, she honed her skills and became an extremely talented beauty artist. These skills commanded requests by makeup department heads and keys for her to join their teams. Ultimately, Jen’s biggest makeup dreams came true when she was finally able to show her skills on set of Rebel Moon, where her last makeups will forever be memorialized.
Jen was known for her chill demeanor, kind heart, and gift of "never meeting a stranger". She could meet you on Day 1 of filming and know your entire family and life’s story by Day 5. You could always find her in any crowd with her brilliantly electric purple colored hair (sometimes green made its way to the stage, but purple was her color). She absolutely loved using bright gem tones with intensity, and covered her body in them through dozens of intricate tattoos. There was no black and white in her world.
Cabezas’s life was fast and furious. She was a bright flame the burned out far too quickly. She is survived by; her Sister Linda, her brother Henry, her beloved nieces, nephew and great nephew. Not to be forgotten are the only "babies" Jen ever had or wanted; her pups Cash & Rider and her bunny Sabrina. (Don’t worry, her puppies have been adopted by her brother Henry and her bunny is safe and loved in the hands of her best friend JQ.)
Jen’s memory and spirit will live on through the people that loved her. She is at peace with the Lord and would only want us to share in that peace.
We love you Jen. You are the ultimate ride or die.
