DOREEN SCHULTZ MARCHETTI Journeyman Hair Stylist (1963-2016)

Beloved by those who worked with her, Journeyman Hair Stylist Doreen Schultz Marchetti inspired, loved and laughed, and was a creative light for everyone around her.  Doreen became a member of the Make-up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild in 1992 when the IATSE merged with NABET Local 531.  Doreen achieved her Journeyman status in 1993 and had a voluminous body of work on movies-of-the-week, afterschool specials and feature films.  Call Me Anna, First and Ten, Torch Song Trilogy, Stop or My Mom Will Shoot and Who Speaks for Jonathan are well remembered films that were admired not only for their drama, but for their creative excellence as well.  Doreen was the department head on so many popular television series:  Lost, Party of Five, The Suite Life on Deck, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody along with The Fosters, The Wonder Years and Tales From the Crypt.

Upon learning of Doreen's passing, Local 706/665 member Tania Kahale and Joanne Miyata (Local 665) expressed their admiration in a loving tribute from Hawaii.  "Doreen arrived at Diamond Head Studios with great determination and a "can do" attitude.  She was a leader in the truest sense with exceptional skills, knowledge, passion, integrity and kindness.  Her standards were very high and she did not settle for anything less from the Hair Department.  She elevated our skills and never limited our abilities, knowing that we were capable.  Doreen, her husband Robert, and daughter Bryce made Hawai'i home for 5 years embracing the people, lifestyle, and culture.  She brought us all together, infusing our families and we shared many good times personally.  We are forever grateful and will remember her generosity, compassion, beautiful smile, passion for life, and most of all her friendship - she changed our lives."  Those same sentiments have been repeated by so many of her friends.

Her adoring husband Robert spoke of his love for her by calling Doreen "his gift, his wife, his angel." Their beautiful daughter Bryce and nieces Marissa and Shane Salmon survive.  Doreen was very private about her battle with cancer as she fought valiantly, she intended to overcome and return to the work she loved so much.  Sadly, she lost her battle early in the morning of July 24, 2016.  A future memorial will be announced as soon as details are provided.
